Datamax forms strategic Alliance with Belgium-based MCL Technologies
DATAMAX FORMS STRATEGIC ALLIANCE WITH BELGIUM-BASED MCL TECHNOLOGIES ORLANDO, FL – September 27, 2002 – Datamax today announced that it has formed a global strategic alliance with MCL Technologies, a division of Zetes Technologies sa/nv, Belgium, to develop the first "Intelligent” barcode label printer that will put the power of connectivity and communication into the printer. Datamax printers will become a proactive element of the hardware or networking environment, where they will be used to drive applications and, ultimately, increase an organization’s computing capabilities. “We are very excited about this technically advanced solution for our I-Class and W-Class products” said Doug Salvador, Director of Marketing for Datamax. “The ability to easily design custom applications that run only from a Datamax printer puts the power of intelligence in our products and the printer in control, which is ideal for standalone applications. With an intelligent printer, users can send and receive real-time data in a wireless environment, connect to ERP and database systems, and connect and control secondary devices, such as other printers, weight scales, scanners, PDAs and keyboards. This solution puts application control into our customers’ hands, giving them a printer with no boundaries.” “This partnership provides Datamax with the unique ability to directly manage ERP interfaces, such as SAP and BaaN,” said Jean-Francois Jacques, Managing Director for MCL Technologies. “This means data is collected and dispatched in real-time, all controlled by the Datamax printer and MCL software.” – more – Datamax and MCL Technologies are working towards the introduction of the new “intelligent” barcode label printer system during the first quarter of 2003.
